Robert Gordon
Robert Gordon Pottery, founded by June Dyson and Colin Gordon in 1945 as Dyson Studios in Black Rock, began with a strong family commitment to ceramics. June, the sole female student in RMIT’s 1940s pottery course, and Colin built a successful business that supported their six children until their retirement in the late 1980s.
In 1978, their youngest son, Robert 'Andy' Gordon, and his wife Barbara started Pack Track Pottery in Gembrook. It grew rapidly, becoming the largest local employer in the area and later moving to Pakenham to meet increasing demand. By the 1990s, the business had expanded significantly, employing over 35 people and gaining international recognition.
Now led by Hannah, Kate, and Bobby Gordon, Robert Gordon Pottery continues to blend traditional techniques with modern innovations. The company employs 35 skilled artisans, who meticulously craft each piece through a combination of wheel-throwing, casting, and pressing methods, ensuring the brand's distinctive Australian character and global appeal.
